2008 Summer Auditions
Auditions for Summer quarter will be held at Braun Music Center, Room 121 on the following dates:
- Sunday, July 6th, 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM and 5:30 - 9:30 PM
- Monday, July 7th, 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM and 5:30 - 9:30 PM
The Stanford Symphony Orchestra’s first rehearsal this quarter is on Tuesday, July 8th, 2008 at 7:15 PM on the stage of Dinkelspiel Auditorium.
Registration for auditions is now open at stanfordsymphony.acuityscheduling.com.
The SSO auditions are open to all members of the Stanford community, although students are given priority. SSO also welcomes musicians from the local, non-Stanford community to audition.
Each audition will be 10 minutes long. It consists of three parts:
- A solo work of your choice. This could be a part of a concerto, sonata, or a solo passage from a major orchestral work.
- Orchestral excerpts. We have listed audition repertoire for each instrument. You can pick up parts outside Room 121, or download and print them out from this page. If you cannot get your music this way, please e-mail professor Jindong Cai at cai@stanford.edu or Martin Fraile at mfraile@stanford.edu. We will fax or mail the material to you.
- Conductor's choice. This could be sight-reading of an orchestral excerpt or scales.
Any questions about the auditions may be e-mailed to Jindong Cai at cai@stanford.edu or Martin Fraile at mfraile@stanford.edu.
